Listen to the cuckoo

Original recording from our workshop in Gütenbach.

VdS-certified original – genuine Black Forest clockmaking.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

Cuckoo clocks from the Black Forest are robust, long-lived timepieces. Wipe the case occasionally with a dry, soft cloth. The movement should be cleaned and oiled by a specialist workshop every 5 years. Keep the clock away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations to protect the natural wood.

SHIPPING & RETURNS

We ship every clock carefully packed and fully insured with DHL, usually within 3 to 5 working days. Delivery is free within Germany, across the entire EU and to the United States. For deliveries to the United States all import duties are included in the price as well, there is nothing to pay on delivery. For all other countries the shipping cost is shown during checkout and any customs duties are paid by the recipient. If you are not completely satisfied with your clock, you may return it within 14 days free of charge. A short message to info@schneider-clocks.com is all it takes.

Avis Alba – the pure form

No excess, no contrast, not one ornament too many: the Avis Alba shows the classic Black Forest bird clock in its purest shape. Unlike its sister models it does without pale carved accents – the case is kept throughout in a warm walnut brown, so that the depth of the carving and the play of light and shadow do all the work. A clock for anyone who prefers craftsmanship undiluted.

The bird above the gable

A carved bird spreads its wings on the gable, every feather set into the wood in fine notch cuts, the red glass eye alert and alive. Directly beneath it the little door opens on the hour and the cuckoo calls the time – two birds, one house.

Five leaves, one frame

Five boldly carved vine leaves frame the case with its lattice-engraved dial panel. Without any distraction from colour, the carving itself comes into its own: the curving leaf veins, the cleanly cut contours, the soft modelling of every surface. You can see what went into this clock – handwork from the Black Forest.

Cuckoo Clock Avis Alba by Anton Schneider – pendulum and pinecone weights

The pendulum in the rhythm of nature

The pendulum picks up the leaf motif as well: a dark-stained maple leaf swings evenly beneath the clock and sets a quiet final note. Together with the two pinecone weights it creates the familiar picture of a genuine Black Forest cuckoo clock – mechanical, alive, entirely without a battery.

The mechanical 1-day movement

Inside works a purely mechanical one-day movement of German manufacture. Once a day the pinecone weights are drawn back up – that is all the clock needs. On every full hour the cuckoo calls the time. This clock has no night shut-off.
