With proper care and regular maintenance, our clocks are built to last for generations. Many pieces from our production have been running reliably in families worldwide for decades. What matters most is careful handling, following the instructions, and occasional servicing by a professional.

Yes. Most of our clocks have a manual or automatic night shut-off. For the manual version, you flip a small lever on the side or underside of the case. Clocks with automatic shut-off detect darkness via a light sensor and silence the call on their own.

A clock in beat sounds even: tick-tock, tick-tock – with equal spacing between both sounds. If it sounds uneven, the clock is hanging crooked. Tilt the clock slightly left or right until the ticking sounds even, then secure it in that position.

Set the time only by turning the minute hand – and only forward. At each hour and half-hour, wait until the cuckoo has finished calling before continuing to turn. Never adjust the hour hand directly.

Clean the case regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid damp cloths, sprays, or chemical cleaners. Wood is sensitive to moisture and strong temperature fluctuations – so don't hang the clock near radiators or in damp rooms.

It depends on the movement. A 1-day movement needs to be wound daily, ideally at the same time. An 8-day movement only needs winding once a week. Always pull the chains calmly and evenly until the weights reach the top – never abruptly.

The clock stops – that's completely normal and doesn't harm the movement. Simply pull the weights back up, set the time, and restart the pendulum. However, never let the weights sink all the way to the floor, as that puts unnecessary strain on the movement.

Timekeeping is regulated via the pendulum disc. Slide the disc up if the clock is running slow. Slide it down if the clock is running fast. Small adjustments are usually enough – wait a day after each correction before adjusting further.

We recommend professional servicing every 5 to 8 years. This includes cleaning, oiling, and checking the movement for wear. Regular servicing significantly extends the clock's lifespan and prevents major damage. Please contact us or a certified clockmaker for this.

The most common causes are: the clock isn't hanging straight (not in beat), the weights have sunk too far, the pendulum is bent or touching something, or the movement needs cleaning. Check the alignment first – that resolves the issue in most cases.

We advise against it. The wrong oil or too much oil can permanently damage the movement. Cleaning and lubricating a mechanical movement should only be done by a professional. If in doubt, please contact our customer service.

Most of our quartz clocks use AA or C batteries – you'll find the exact specification in your clock's included instructions. We recommend brand-name batteries, as cheap batteries leak more easily and can damage the movement.

Under normal use, batteries typically last 12 to 18 months. Using the night shut-off regularly and keeping the volume at a medium level can extend battery life. Always replace all batteries at once – never just one.

First check: Are the batteries dead? Is the night shut-off active? Is the volume control set to zero? In most cases it's one of these causes. If the clock still makes no sound after a battery change, please contact our customer service.

Quartz movements are very precise and should deviate by no more than a few seconds per month at most. If your clock is noticeably fast or slow, this can indicate weak batteries, temperature fluctuations, or a defect. First try replacing the batteries – if that doesn't solve it, please contact us.

Turn the minute hand forward slowly, and at each hour and half-hour, wait until the cuckoo has called. Then continue turning. On quartz clocks with a separate setting wheel, you can also set the time more quickly – refer to your clock's instructions for details.

Quartz movements require significantly less maintenance than mechanical ones. The most important care tip: replace batteries in good time and never leave leaked batteries inside the movement – this can cause corrosion damage. Otherwise, regular dusting and careful handling are enough.

Depending on the model, your clock is equipped with one of two control panels:

Simple control panel
A push button for manually triggering the cuckoo call, plus a slide switch with three positions: HI (loud), LOW (quiet), and OFF (disabled).

Advanced control panel
A push button plus three switch positions: Music ON (cuckoo call with melody), Music OFF (cuckoo call only), and OFF (everything disabled). Volume is controlled via the Volume button – briefly pressing it cycles through the volume levels.
