CARE & MAINTENANCE

Black Forest cuckoo clocks are robust, long-lasting timepieces. Occasionally wipe the case with a dry, soft cloth. The movement should be cleaned and oiled by a specialist every 5 years. Keep the clock away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations to protect the natural wood.
SHIPPING & RETURNS

We ship every clock carefully packed and fully insured with DHL, usually within 3 to 5 working days. Delivery is free within Germany, across the entire EU and to the United States. For deliveries to the United States all import duties are included in the price as well, there is nothing to pay on delivery. For all other countries the shipping cost is shown during checkout and any customs duties are paid by the recipient. If you are not completely satisfied with your clock, you may return it within 14 days free of charge. A short message to info@schneider-clocks.com is all it takes.

Every one of these details is hand-painted and handcrafted, as has been Anton Schneider's tradition for generations. The classic folk painting of the Black Forest, small blossoms, hearts and tendrils in vivid colors, makes every clock one of a kind, since no brushstroke is quite like another. So the Blumenhäusle brings folk art and joie de vivre into every room, a small piece of summer that stays all year round.

Hand-Painted Art

Blossoms, hearts and delicate tendrils decorate the notched gable boards, every single flower applied by hand with a brush, in the tradition of Black Forest folk painting. At the base, the large daisy glows, the trademark of this clock, surrounded by colorful dots and leaves.

Above the dial sits the carved cuckoo door with Anton Schneider's carved AS monogram. On the hour, it opens, and the cuckoo announces the time, just as it has done in the Black Forest for nearly two centuries.

The Chimney Sweep

If you look closely, you'll spot him: up in the chimney peeks a small chimney sweep with a black top hat and rosy cheeks. A hidden detail you might only notice on your second or third look, and one that brings a smile every time.

The chimney sweep has always been considered a bringer of luck. On the roof of the Blumenhäusle, he silently watches over the house and its inhabitants, a small greeting wishing good fortune to everyone who sees it.

The Well Trough

It stands in front of the house, just as you'd find it at an old Black Forest farmstead: a hollowed tree trunk as a water trough, fed by a wooden pipe on the red well post. The water inside is painted in bright blue with just a few skillful brushstrokes, a small splash of color that brings the whole scene to life.

On the farm, the well was once both a meeting place and a lifeline. On the Blumenhäusle, it's a reminder that these clocks are always miniatures of real Black Forest life too.

The Mechanical 1-Day Movement

Inside the Blumenhäusle works a mechanical 1-day movement, entirely without battery or electronics. The two pinecone weights, at 275 grams, supply the energy, the pendulum with its hand-painted blossom sets the tempo, and on the hour the cuckoo calls from its little door.

This design with pendulum and pinecone weights has its roots in the 18th-century Black Forest, where farmhouse clockmaking grew into a world-famous craft tradition. To this day, the principle continues almost unchanged: the descending weights drive the movement, the pendulum swings evenly back and forth, clockmaking in its purest form.

The Blumenhäusle is wound once a day, by pulling the weights back up via their chains, a small daily ritual that has been part of living with a genuine Black Forest clock for generations.
