CARE & MAINTENANCE

Black Forest cuckoo clocks are robust, long-lasting timepieces. Occasionally wipe the case with a dry, soft cloth. The movement should be cleaned and oiled by a specialist every 5 years. Keep the clock away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations to protect the natural wood.

SHIPPING & RETURNS

We ship every clock carefully packaged and insured with DHL, usually within 3–5 working days. Delivery is free within Germany and throughout the EU; for all other countries the shipping cost is shown during checkout. If you are not completely satisfied with your clock, you may return it within 14 days. Simply contact us at info@schneider-clocks.com.

A landmark as a cuckoo clock

The historic town hall of Michelstadt is among the best-known half-timbered buildings in Germany and served as the model for this extraordinary cuckoo clock. Its striking architecture – the red shingled roof, the two towers and the open half-timbering – has been translated into wood in rich detail.

Architecture with remarkable depth

Sturdy wooden beams frame the transparent dial and open up the view onto the mechanical movement, making the workings themselves part of the design. Warm wood tones, pale half-timbered panels and red window trim underline the unmistakable character of the town hall.

Good company against a historic backdrop

A lively scene unfolds in front of the building: a server carries freshly filled beer steins while a guest waits at the table with his dog. A cat and a mouse complete the picture with a charming wink, making the whole scene feel like a small glimpse of life on the market square.

Dancing beneath the red shingled roof

In the upper part of the town hall, lovingly crafted figures turn to the music. Their traditional costume and the finely worked gallery bring movement to the historic façade. On the hour, the little door above opens and the cuckoo calls out the time.

Attention to detail from every perspective

Shutters, small barrels, doors and decorative half-timbered elements make the clock a discovery from every angle. Even the pendulum takes up the language of the architecture and blends harmoniously into this elaborately composed whole.

The Mechanical 8-Day Movement

Inside the Michelstadt town hall works a high-quality mechanical 8-day movement. Once fully wound, the clock runs for around a week, reliably setting the pendulum, the cuckoo call, the music and the moving figures in motion. Afterwards the weights are simply drawn back up on their chains – a weekly ritual that makes traditional Black Forest clockmaking come alive.
