In bear country
Two tall fir trees frame the house, and the steep shingle roof reaches almost down to the forest floor. In front of it the bears roam their territory: one stands on a tree stump and two wander between moss, stones and young firs.
The animals are in charge on the balcony too. Where other chalets have dancing couples, here four marmots turn to the music after the cuckoo call. The 22-note music box plays Edelweiss and The Happy Wanderer, while bear and mill wheel are in motion.
45 centimetres high, 41 wide: a motif from the wildlife of the Black Forest that appeals to children and collectors alike.
