CARE & MAINTENANCE

Cuckoo clocks from the Black Forest are robust, long-lived timepieces. Wipe the case occasionally with a dry, soft cloth. The movement should be cleaned and oiled by a specialist workshop every 5 years. Keep the clock away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations to protect the natural wood.
SHIPPING & RETURNS

We ship every clock carefully packed and fully insured with DHL, usually within 3 to 5 working days. Delivery is free within Germany, across the entire EU and to the United States. For deliveries to the United States all import duties are included in the price as well, there is nothing to pay on delivery. For all other countries the shipping cost is shown during checkout and any customs duties are paid by the recipient. If you are not completely satisfied with your clock, you may return it within 14 days free of charge. A short message to info@schneider-clocks.com is all it takes.

Axe, mill wheel and fir green

The woodchopper stands at the chopping block splitting log after log, opposite him the mill wheel turns, and on the left a fir tree rises above the bench. The light half-timbering with its curved beams sets off the figures in front of it beautifully.

A detail for the second look: small birds sit on the balcony doors and on the base. After the cuckoo call the balcony opens, the figures in traditional costume turn to the music of Edelweiss and The Happy Wanderer, and woodchopper and mill wheel get to work.

At 34 centimetres high, the Fir Chalet is a compact 8-day chalet with music that also fits smaller rooms.

The mechanical 8-day movement

Inside works a mechanical 8-day movement. Wound once, the clock runs for a full week and drives everything at the same time: the pendulum, the cuckoo call, the music box and the moving figures. Three pine cone weights of 1,500 grams each supply the power, one for the time train, one for the cuckoo, one for the music.

The music needs no electronics: a pinned cylinder plucks the tuned teeth of the music box, powered solely by the weights. The automatic night shut-off keeps call and music silent overnight without stopping the clock. It is wound once a week by pulling the weights back up on their chains.

We do not yet have high-resolution detail and room photographs of this clock. We will add them as soon as possible and then present this page with the same care as those of our other clocks.
