Listen to the cuckoo

Original recording from our Manufactory in Gütenbach.

VdS seal, original Black Forest cuckoo clock

Original Black Forest cuckoo clock, certified by the Verein die Schwarzwalduhr e. V. (VdS), the Black Forest Clock Association. Your guarantee of genuine craftsmanship from the Black Forest.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

Cuckoo clocks from the Black Forest are robust, long-lived timepieces. Wipe the case occasionally with a dry, soft cloth. The movement should be cleaned and oiled by a specialist workshop every 5 years. Keep the clock away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations to protect the natural wood.

SHIPPING & RETURNS

We ship every clock carefully packed and fully insured with DHL, usually within 3 to 5 working days. Delivery is free within Germany, across the entire EU and to the United States. For deliveries to the United States all import duties are included in the price as well, there is nothing to pay on delivery. For all other countries the shipping cost is shown during checkout and any customs duties are paid by the recipient. If you are not completely satisfied with your clock, you may return it within 14 days free of charge. A short message to info@schneider-clocks.com is all it takes.

The calm of wood

Finely worked leaves, above them a bird at the moment of taking flight, and nothing else to distract: Avis Silvae is the unpainted sister of Avis Flora and lives entirely from the warm walnut brown of the wood.

No music box, no figures, just wood, call and the beat of the pendulum. For anyone looking for a cuckoo clock that holds back and is still unmistakably from the Black Forest.

Dial in a wreath of leaves

The wooden dial with Roman numerals sits right among the leaves, and above it the little door behind which the cuckoo waits for its hour. The leaves frame the front and give it depth from every angle.

The call on the hour

On the hour and half hour the little door opens, the cuckoo steps out and calls. As it has for generations, the sound comes from two small bellows inside the clock.

The bird in the crown

At the very top sits the bird, its wings opened for take-off. Without paint every line in the wood stands out, from the feathers to the veins of the leaves.

The mechanical 1-day movement

Inside works a purely mechanical 1-day movement. Two pine cone weights of 275 grams each drive the time train and the cuckoo call; once a day they are pulled up on their chains, and that is all the clock needs.

The cuckoo calls on the hour and half hour. With the manual night shut-off it can be silenced at any time.
