An honest day's work
In front of the house the young woodchopper stands at the block splitting wood, on the left the mill wheel turns, with a bench and a fir tree beside it. No inn, no festival: this clock tells of everyday life in a Black Forest village.
Above, the green shutters open, and after the cuckoo call the dancing couple turns on the balcony to the music of Edelweiss and The Happy Wanderer. Woodchopper and mill wheel keep time.
