Listen to the cuckoo

Original recording from our workshop in Gütenbach.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

Wipe the wooden case occasionally with a dry, soft cloth. Keep the clock away from direct sunlight, high humidity and strong changes in temperature to protect the wood. The electronic movement needs no servicing. Replace the three type C batteries as soon as the call or the music grows quieter, and take the batteries out if the clock is not used for a longer period.

SHIPPING & RETURNS

Every clock is carefully packed and insured, and ships with DHL, as a rule within 3 to 5 working days. Within Germany and across the EU we deliver free of shipping costs, for all other countries the shipping costs are shown during checkout. Should you not be entirely happy with your clock, you can return it within 14 days. Simply contact us at info@schneider-clocks.com.

Twelve melodies are stored in the movement. After the cuckoo has called the hour, one of them plays. The music can be switched off, and the volume is adjusted in three steps.

When the cuckoo calls the end of the day

In front of a Black Forest chalet a man sits at the table with his beer mug, a white goose standing beside him. Above the scene the cuckoo waits for the full hour. The little chalet tells a quiet story, and that is exactly where its charm lies: wood, half-timbering, a beer on the table and the cuckoo above it all.

Quality you can see

A wooden case, a wooden cuckoo and pine cone weights made of metal. The facade shows half-timbering, red shutters with flower boxes, two fir trees and a shingled roof. Small details such as the bundle of wood beside the bench give the clock depth without crowding it.

The dial sets the calm centre: dark brown, white Roman numerals, hands made of wood and the AS monogram.

The cuckoo on the hour

On the full hour the door under the gable opens, the wooden cuckoo steps out and calls the hour. One of twelve melodies then follows. The music can be switched off, the volume is adjusted in three steps, and a light sensor keeps the clock silent in the dark.

The speaker stays invisible behind the side wall. A fine pattern of small holes lets the sound out.

Handcrafted in Gütenbach

Every Golden Hour is built here in Gütenbach, piece by piece. The parts come from the Black Forest, the assembly is done by hand: facade and roof, the figures in the yard, the dial with the AS monogram, and finally the movement.

After that every clock is set, listened to and checked by hand. Only when the cuckoo calls cleanly, the melody sounds clear and the hands run quietly does it go into its box. That takes longer than a production line, and that is precisely the difference: no two clocks are entirely alike, each one carries the traces of the hands it passed through.
