CARE & MAINTENANCE

Black Forest cuckoo clocks are robust, long-lasting timepieces. Occasionally wipe the case with a dry, soft cloth. The movement should be cleaned and oiled by a specialist every 5 years. Keep the clock away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations to protect the natural wood.

SHIPPING & RETURNS

We ship every clock carefully packaged and insured with DHL, usually within 3–5 working days. Delivery is free within Germany and throughout the EU; for all other countries the shipping cost is shown during checkout. If you are not completely satisfied with your clock, you may return it within 14 days. Simply contact us at info@schneider-clocks.com.

The Bird on the Ridge

The five-leaf bird clock is one of the original forms of the Black Forest cuckoo clock, carved in the region's workshops since the 19th century. The Avis Apicis interprets this classic with a particularly vivid contrast finish: light, hand-worked carved accents emerge from the dark-stained walnut brown, lending depth and radiance to every leaf and feather. The result is a clock that shows remarkable character despite its compact size.

Crowned by a Bird

At the very top of the case perches a single bird with outstretched wings – the emblem of this clock. Its plumage is worked out cut by cut, the light incisions tracing every feather, and the red glass eye gives it an alert, lively gaze.

Five Leaves, One Frame

Five delicately carved vine leaves frame the case, making the clock look as if it grew straight out of the forest. The lattice-engraved dial field in warm honey tones forms an appealing contrast – light meets dark, flat surface meets relief. Above the dial, the door opens on the hour, and the cuckoo calls the time.

The Pendulum, in Nature's Rhythm

The pendulum picks up the leaf motif too: a carved maple leaf with light decorative veins swings evenly beneath the clock. Together with the two pinecone weights, it creates the familiar image of a genuine Black Forest cuckoo clock – mechanical, alive, with no battery at all.

The Mechanical 1-Day Movement

Inside works a purely mechanical one-day movement made in Germany. The pinecone weights need to be pulled up just once a day – that's all this clock requires. The cuckoo calls the hour on every full hour; the manual night shut-off lets you silence it at any time.
