Nobody here takes a break
The sawmill stands by the stream. The water wheel is turning, two men are pulling the bucksaw through a log, the carter comes round the corner with his long-timber wagon, and the dog with the little barrel on its collar keeps watch over it all.
Over the whole scene lies a heavy shingled roof, crowned by a bell tower with a real brass bell. And beneath it, where other clocks have a dial, you can watch the movement at work.
The Sägewerk is one of the most elaborate clocks in our collection, and one of the few in which craftsmanship is not only visible, but visible twice over: out front in the yard and behind the chapter ring.
